The Oklahoma city thunder, also known as the Seattle Supersonics before 2008, is a famous team that has had a number of superstars over the years, including Gary Payton, Shai Gilgeous Alexander and were traded to The Clippers and the Thunder's Paul George and Russell Westbrook, etc. Here, we list the best thunder team you can buy in NBA 2k20 MyTEAM.
PG – '07 Gary Payton (OVR 97)
• Card Type:
• Spotlight
• Best stats: 99 steals, 99 lateral quickness, 98 help defense IQ
• Cost: >100k
Kicking off this OKC five is a biggie! The pink diamond version of Thunder legend Gary Payton.
The point guard picked up his only NBA title at the back end of his career during his time with the Heat, but it was the 13 years Payton spent in Seattle with the SuperSonics that NBA fans will remember the defensive maestro for.
Gary Payton, otherwise known as The Glove, made a name for himself playing defense and in many circles is considered one of the best defensive players of all time. As a nine-time All-Defensive first team member and the '96 DPOTY, it is no surprise to see Payton's defense rated so highly (96 defending). Payton's 91 rated playmaking will come in handy on the opposite end of the court too.
Above 100k MT 2K20, although a bit expensive, it is worth it. If your roster already has scorers at the shooting guard and small forward positions, Payton may be a smart pickup to guard the superstar point guards that can score from anywhere on the court.
SG – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OVR 91)
• Card type: Moments of the Week
• Best stats: 95 hands, 95 hustle, 95 stamina
• Cost: 20k
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has certainly made some improvements to his game since joining the league last season. He has been a key part of the Oklahoma City Thunder's success this season and has earned his improved 2K rating.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is not only starting to steal the spotlight in OKC, but he is also making history in a huge breakout season. Most recently he became the youngest player ever with a 20-rebound triple-double.
The 21-year-old has taken his newfound role in his stride and put in some seriously impressive performances. Shooting from deep (88 outside shot) seems to be the way forward here, but with an 80 rated driving dunk tendency, don't be afraid to head to the bucket if you see an opportunity. 20k 2K20 MT for sale, very cost-effective.
SF – '98 Xavier McDaniel (OVR 91)
• Card Type: Legacy
• Best stats: 97 shot IQ, 95 hands, 95 stamina
• Cost: 5k
For the small forward role, it's a trip back to the Supersonic days with the X-Man, Xavier McDaniel.
McDaniel was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics in the first round (4th overall)[1] of the 1985 NBA draft and became an instant starter. He averaged 17.1 points per game and finished second in the NBA Rookie of the Year balloting to Patrick Ewing.
His second season, he was one of a trio of 20 ppg scorers with the SuperSonics along with Dale Ellis and Tom Chambers. The SuperSonics made it all the way to the Western Conference finals that season. He averaged over 20 points per game for the next three seasons as a Sonic, including the 1988–89 season when he was used primarily as a bench player.
McDaniel may not be a household name for many NBA fans but he sure impressed in his early days with the SuperSonics, making his only All-Star appearance during his time there (1988).
McDaniel doesn't excel in any particular area but has decent overalls in all of the key attributes. Driving to the basket is going to be the best way to pick up points with the X-Man (94 driving layups & 90 driving dunks).
PF – '14 Rashard Lewis (OVR 96)
• Card Type: Spotlight
• Best stats: 97 shot IQ, 95 offensive consistency, 95 stamina
• Cost: 85k
In the power forward spot is another old school SuperSonic's star, Rashard Lewis.
Lewis is still an active basketballer, however, he traded the NBA for the BIG3 – a three-on-three basketball league founded by rapper Ice Cube – back in 2017.
Lewis was a member of the Miami Heat team which won the NBA back in 2013 but his best years came during his nine-year stint with the SuperSonics. Lewis was an out-and-out scorer during his days with the SuperSonics and that is reflected by the huge 94 OVR he has been given in the outside scoring attribute. Lewis also has five gold badges in the finishing department.
Rashard Lewis is more well known for his time with Seattle, but his 4 seasons with the Orlando Magic cannot be forgotten. Averaging a solid 16.3 points per game, he also held a solid 5.1 rebounds per game. he also has a strong 1.1 steals per game, along with a decent 2.1 assists per game.
C – '06 Vin Baker (OVR 89)
• Card Type: Legacy
• Best stats: 95 stamina, 95 shot IQ, 95 offensive consistency
• Cost: 1.5k
The final name in this team is another player from the franchise's Seattle days, Vin Baker.
He had established themselves as a perennial All-Star by the mid-90s, Baker was a bit of an ironman, regularly playing 40 minutes and rarely missing a game. He posted good numbers for some not-so-good Milwaukee Bucks teams before the three-team trade involving Shawn Kemp and Terrell Brandon gave him an opportunity to play for a Playoff team in Seattle.
A weight gain during the lockout and problems with alcohol abuse, unfortunately, derailed his career. Although he would shed the excess weight, he never regained his All-Star form, and eventually lost his starting role.
The lack of options at the central role has lead to us selected Baker in his secondary position of center rather than his preferred power forward role, but his impressive rebounding (85 OVR) and inside scoring (85 OVR) should help the former Supersonic star to make the switch seamlessly. His value is 1.5k.
