What are the Takeovers?
The Takeover is a gaming mechanic that can help improve performance by filling up a meter through continued good play and dropping when mistakes are made. 'Heat check,' a commonly used basketball term, refers to when players get into a rhythm and perform better regularly.

How to Activate Takeovers?
Once you have filled the Takeover meter to the max, you can see it on top of the screen. It will be hard to miss because the meter will be on fire.
Simply press your action button to activate the takeover meter.
To fill up the takeover meter, you must make good shots, score assists, defend and snag rebounds. Do take note that making bad shots will decrease your takeover meter.
How to Choose Takeover?
Your selections will differ depending on your position and build.
How to Change Takeover?
You can select your Takeover ability when building a player in your My Player builder file. You can also go back and do this at any time in your My Player build file by heading to MyCareer, selecting your build, and then editing it.
The important thing to note here is that just because you head into the MyPlayer Builder File and change the Takeover in your build, you will need to create a new player to use the new build as your MyCareer player and the MyPlayer builder file are two separate things and any of the VC or upgrades that you've made to a MyCareer player will not carry over to a new character.
So if you like everything about your MyCareer player, except for the Takeover, it does appear that you are out of luck when switching it mid-career. However, if you are only a short way into MyCareer and don't like the Takeover for your current build, you can change the Takeover in the MyPlayer Builder Files, but you will need to start over from square one with this new player.
Unfortunately, there is no alternative method to changing the Takeover for an existing player. Badges for your Takeover can be edited, however.
What are the Takeovers Used for?
Having the Playmaking Takeover will increase your Ball Handling, Pass IQ, Speed With Ball, Passing Accuracy, and Vision by up to ten rating points. The great thing about Takeovers is that they can help push you beyond the 99-rating limit. So, if you already have a 99 Ball Handling rating, the Takeover might boost it by ten points, bringing you above the limit at 109 Ball Handling.
